  1. What is CBD?

Cannabidiol is a cannabis compound that is also known as CBD. Cannabidiol affects both the mind and the body thanks to the natural chemicals that are already in the body being produced each day. These endocannabinoids are part of the endocannabinoid system.

This entire system is designed to promote homeostasis in the body. This balance occurs during pain perception, appetite, immune function, nervous system functions, mood, and memory. As the CB1 and CB2 receptors in this system interact with the rest of the body, cannabinoids in the body can play a large role in how well this communication is taking place.

CBD is a promising treatment because of its lack of side effects. Even though our body has naturally occurring cannabinoids, supplementing for deficiencies is ideal.

  5. What is THC?

THC, also called tetrahydrocannabinol, acts much like other cannabinoids (like CBD) that scientists found in the body. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, cannabinoid receptors in the body and brain are related to actions such as memory, thinking, pleasure, coordination, and perception of time. When THC binds with these various receptors, they become activated to a greater degree. Other cannabinoids are non-psychoactive.

THC will provide the altered mental state that some people are looking for. Aside from the ‘high’ that people associate THC with, there are some suspected benefits of THC. This includes a better quality of sleep, relieving pain, decreased anxiety, promoting relaxation and perking up the appetite. There are CBD products that will contain THC, but manufacturers strive to produce products that have less than 0.3 percent THC in them. For many states, this is part of the CBD law. Anything over 0.3 percent THC would be illegal to market.
